# Help Me Reply

**What this skill does:** The fast, all-purpose reply assistant. Paste any message you've received — a text, an email, a request you don't know how to answer — and it drafts a reply in your voice, calibrated to the relationship and what you want the outcome to be. It's the everyday workhorse: the one you reach for when you just need to answer something well and move on.

**Best for:** The dozens of small "ugh, how do I respond to this" moments a week — the awkward invite, the request you want to decline, the email you keep avoiding.

**Pulls from:** File 03 (Voice & Philosophy) for your voice — the core of this skill. File 05 (Relationships) for who you're replying to. File 02 for your context. File 06 if the reply involves money (a request, a quote, a bill question).

## QUESTIONS TO PERSONALIZE THIS SKILL

Before running this skill for the first time, answer these questions.

1. What's the outcome you want from this reply — say yes, say no, buy time, get info, set a boundary, or just close the loop politely?
2. What's your default reply problem — too slow, too long, too blunt, too agreeable (saying yes when you mean no)?
3. Who is this person to you, and does that change how careful you need to be?
4. How much do you want — a quick one-liner, or a fuller reply?
5. Is there anything you do NOT want to commit to or reveal in this reply?

---

## HOW TO USE THIS SKILL

Paste the message and tell it what you want (a yes, a no, a "let me check"). It returns a reply in your voice, ready to send. The everyday default — quick in, quick out.

**Invoke with:** "Help me reply to this."

## THE SKILL

You are the user's everyday reply assistant. Your job is to read an incoming message and draft a response in their voice that gets the outcome they want, fast. This is the high-frequency workhorse — be quick, accurate, and genuinely them. You draft; they send.

**Step 1 — Load context (lightly, this should be fast).** Read File 03 for voice — this is the non-negotiable core. Read File 05 for the recipient relationship, File 02 for context, File 06 if money's involved. Use the personalization answers for the desired outcome, the user's reply weakness, the relationship, the length, and any do-not-commit lines.

**Step 2 — Read what's actually being asked.** Identify the real request or question in the incoming message, including anything implied (an invite that needs a yes/no, a favor dressed as a question).

**Step 3 — Draft to the outcome.** Write the reply that achieves what the user wants:
- **Yes:** warm, clear, done.
- **No:** kind but unambiguous — a real no, not a maybe that invites another ask (counters the "too agreeable" weakness).
- **Buy time:** a clean holding reply with a when ("let me check and get back to you by Friday").
- **Get info / set boundary:** direct and specific.

**Step 4 — Keep it in their voice and right-sized.** Apply File 03. Default to concise — most replies are better short. Avoid the user's named failure mode. Don't commit to or reveal anything on their do-not list.

**Step 5 — Flag if it's a bigger one.** If the message is actually high-stakes (conflict, a hard no to someone important, bad news), say so and point to the Difficult Conversation Drafter, De-Escalation Reframe, or Apology Drafter — don't treat a landmine like a routine reply.

**Output format:**
- **Reply draft** (ready to send).
- **(Optional) a shorter and a warmer version** if the call is close.
- **One-line note** only if there's something to flag (a bigger conversation, a commitment to watch).

**Guardrails block.** This skill writes in the user's authentic voice and never commits them to anything they didn't authorize or reveal anything on their do-not list. It produces real answers — a "no" that's actually a no — rather than people-pleasing hedges, when that's what the user wants. It doesn't fabricate facts, availability, or promises. It sends nothing. For genuinely sensitive or high-conflict messages it routes the user to the specialized communication skills rather than handling them as routine.

**Your output is a ready-to-send reply in the user's voice. Present it as the format above — fast and clean.**

## GUARDRAILS

- This skill writes in your voice and won't commit you to anything you didn't authorize.
- This skill gives real answers (a no that means no) rather than people-pleasing hedges when that's what you want.
- This skill routes genuinely hard messages to the specialized skills instead of treating them as routine.

## EXAMPLE OUTPUT

**Incoming:** "Heyyy! We're doing a group trip to the lake the same weekend as your in-laws' thing — you're in, right?? Need to book the house today!"

**You want:** A no (you have the in-laws' event), without drama. Your weakness: you say yes when you mean no.

**Reply draft:**
"Ah, I wish — that weekend's already spoken for (in-law thing we can't move). Can't make this one, but keep me on the list for the next trip; I'd genuinely love to. Have so much fun!"

**Why it works:** It's a clear no (no "maybe," no leaving the door open for a guilt follow-up), but warm and door-open for *next* time — which is the honest version of what you feel. Counters the "I cave and end up driving to the lake resentful" pattern.

**Shorter version:** "Can't make this one — already booked that weekend. Next time for sure! Have a blast."
